Comprehensive Evaluations & Testing

close up of spring flowerDuring your initial appointment, we take the time to learn what kind of substances could be your specific triggers. After we take a complete history and perform a focused physical exam, we can move forward with allergy testing. These tests can identify common allergens such as plant pollens, dust mites, molds, insect stings, and animal dander. We also test for food allergies, including wheat, peanuts, shellfish, eggs, and milk.

We will explain the advantages and disadvantages of skin testing and blood testing and help you determine which one you need. We offer testing for adults and children of all ages.

Our evaluations include a thorough review of the results and a plan to help you find the right treatment for relief. If your symptoms include breathing difficulty, we may perform a pulmonary function test. This test will help us discover how well your lungs are working and reveal any signs of obstruction, inflammation, or tissue damage.

Why Prevention is Best

Summer Sun Shining Over Agricultural LandscapeOur allergists can be valuable partners for managing your condition and preventing flare-ups. Identifying the source of your reactions is the first step in avoiding problems, so you don’t have to live in fear of an attack. We can help you identify your specific triggers and recommend ways to prevent them. We also provide medication or other treatment options that control or eliminate your symptoms. Once you have a plan in place, it is crucial to stay with it, even if you are not currently experiencing problems.

If you suspect that you have been exposed to a trigger, it is essential to stay calm and always keep quick-relief medications within easy reach. Learn to spot early warning signs such as a cough that seems to get worse or shortness of breath that wakes you up at night. Symptoms can change over time, so we provide frequent check-ups and adjust your treatment if necessary.
